NOTICE OF POSTING FOR FIREFIGHTER/EMT

BASE COMPENSATION: $46.847.55 annually (based on a 53 hour week at an hourly rate of $16.09)

 
Travis County ESD No. 2/Pflugerville Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/EMT. Please review the job summary, qualifications, and instructions before applying for this position. Only applicants meeting the required qualifications listed below need apply. The population of the area served by the District is almost 100,000 citizens. The District serves about 100 square miles from four fire stations and currently has more than 100 firefighters.

I.                    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

-18 years of age

- Eligible for employment in the U.S.

- Valid (not expired) Texas driver’s license

- High school Diploma or GED certificate

- Valid basic firefighter certification from Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP)

- Valid EMT-B, or higher, certification from either the Texas Department of State Health Services or National Registry

 

II.                 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Valid Licensed or EMT-P certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services

- Valid ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor Certification

- Trauma Course Instructor (PHTLS, ITLS, or equivalent)

- A college degree

 

III.               PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Meet physical requirements as detailed in NFPA 1592

- Participate in department sponsored physical training to maintain adequate physical condition to perform job

1. Completed and Signed District Application

2. Required certifications (must hold current valid certification(s)).  Basic Firefighter & EMT-B certification.  Follow the instructions below.

        Firefighter Certification:
        Go to:  FIDO Gateway:   http://www.tcfp.texas.gov/home/FIDO_gateway.asp
        Select Individual Login (iFIDO)
        Enter PIN, Password, and identify the picture and click on Submit
       

EMT-B Certificate from the Texas Department of Health Services.  To order a certificate, click  http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/emstraumasystems/formsresources.shtm for Forms and Resources. Under EMS Certification/Licensure forms, go to Supplemental Forms,  select Wallet Card Replacement. You can request a copy of a wallet card, wall certificate, or both.  If you have questions please call 512-834-6700 for assistance.

V.                  HIRING PROCESS

After contingent job offer:

- pass pre-employment checks:

- driving record and background check

- NFPA 1582 physical exam

- drug test

- reference check

Applicant’s criminal history and driving record will be reviewed and may or may not disqualify a candidate for future consideration depending on job relatedness, date of the incident, and severity. It is recommended to include a detailed explanation of entries on a criminal history or driving record
