Knox Box

To help quickly gain access into secure buildings during an emergency without causing unnecessary/costly property damage, we require the installation of Knox Boxes on all existing and new businesses in the District.

Think of Knox Boxes as small, wall-mounted safes that contain the access cards/keys to commercial buildings. Our responders can open the Knox Boxes with a master key available in all of our emergency vehicles.

Ordering Online

To initiate your purchase, click the red ‘BUY’ button and follow the prompts. The potential ordering options may include the following:

  • Purchase products directly from the website on your initial visit.
  • Purchase products directly from our Knox Trusted Partners.
  • You may be requested to return to the site to complete the transaction once TCESD#2/Pflugerville Fire Dept. has reviewed your product selection.
  • You may be asked to obtain and submit a Knox Authorization Order Form directly from TCESD#2/Pflugerville Fire Dept.

To order follow these simple steps:

  1. Click on the red BUY button
  2. Select the state (Texas) serving the installation address.
  3. Choose the correct public safety agency Travis Co. ESD #2/Pflugerville Fire Dept. to begin the purchasing process.
  4. Select product(s), input installation address, acknowledge alerts, and then add item(s) to cart.
  5. Complete the checkout process.

 

Note: Travis Co ESD #2/Pflugerville Fire requires pre-authorization of your orders prior to the sale.

***IMPORTANT NOTICE***

For most locations, the model 3200 series KnoxBox (surface mount or recessed) is the box of choice. If your project requires a specified KnoxBox other than the 3200 series TCESD#2/Pflugerville Fire Dept. will notify you of this.

 

Installation Guidelines

  1.  The location of the Knox Box needs to be in a conspicuous location near the front door < 5’.
  2. The KnoxBox should be securely installed at a height of 5’ above finish floor.
  3. Once installed, please email TCESD#2/Pflugerville Fire Dept. at [email protected] to have property keys secured within the Knox Box. TCESD#2/Pflugerville Fire Dept. will require the following:
    • One set of LABELED master keys that ensure access to all areas of the facility.
    • Key Fobs / Access Cards if applicable.
  4. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that the secured keys are updated and maintained in the event of a lock change or other access change.

***IMPORTANT NOTICE***

For most locations, only one KnoxBox is required at the front entrance. However, for larger commercial properties, TCESD#2/Pflugerville Fire Dept. may require additional boxes at a rear location. The model 3200 series KnoxBox (surface mount or recessed) is the box of choice. If your project requires a specified KnoxBox other than the 3200 series TCESD#2/Pflugerville Fire Dept. will notify you of this.
